Support Group for Moms who delivered their baby alone due to COVID-19

Support Group Description

The start of the COVID-19 outbreak was an unprecedented time to give birth in New York City. I myself was one of the many women who experienced labor, delivery, and recovery in the hospital alone-- without a spouse, partner, family member, or support person, due to the restrictive visitor policies that had been temporarily instituted in several hospitals. Although the state guidelines were in effect for only five days (March 23-March 28), the reversal of the ban on birth partners could not rewrite the women’s stories who were forced to deliver alone during that period of time. For these women, the birth they expected, pictured, and hoped for was likely not the one they experienced. If you gave birth alone in the early days of the pandemic, and continue to feel sadness, loss, grief, anxiety, or trauma, I see you and I am with you. It's normal that you might still be feeling isolated and lonely, considering your experience was so drastically different than that of other moms. I invite you to join me and other women in the safe, supportive environment of this group. You’ll meet other moms whose baby books look a bit more like yours. We will make space for you to share, cry, connect, and hopefully laugh a little bit too. Although you were alone when you gave birth, you are not alone today. Together we can process the events of those extraordinary days and explore ways to heal on our journey of motherhood. This virtual group is scheduled to meet every other Wednesday evening beginning February 24th, 2021 and culminating April 7th, 2021 - before, during and after the anniversary of your birth and baby's 1st birthdays. Sign up below - drop ins welcome, strongly encouraged to attend all 4 sessions.
